Matt Monson CEO, Managing Director

Matt R. Monson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, founded DRAFT Capital in 2018 to invest in growth opportunities in health care and senior living through the company’s extensive industry network and in collaboration with its strategic partners. Matt’s expertise in real estate and operational investments, financial management, capital structuring, executive consulting, transaction execution and mergers and acquisitions extends over two decades and more than $7 billion in acquisitions, dispositions, and development.

Prior to founding DRAFT Capital, Matt was instrumental in the launch of the health care and senior living real estate company Invesque Inc. (TSX: IVQ.U), its successful IPO in June 2016 and growth to $1.2 billion in AUM through the acquisition of more than one hundred medical offices, senior living communities and skilled nursing properties across North America. During his tenure, he directed the company’s investment team where he oversaw origination, underwriting, structuring and closing of acquisitions and third-party developments.

Prior to Invesque, Matt was Director of Medical Facilities and Director of Corporate Investments at Welltower Inc. (NYSE: WELL), where his team oversaw the financial and operating performance of key operating partners and transacted on hundreds of medical and senior living communities throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

Matt graduated from Cornell University with both an M.B.A. from the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management and an M.P.S. in real estate from the Baker Program. He is an active member of the Cornell Real Estate Council, the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures, and an advisory board at Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a B.S. in construction management.


David Gray CFO, Managing Director

David Gray, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director, leads DRAFT Capital’s investment underwriting and asset management platform. His experience in real estate operations and management is fundamental in the company's ability to create efficiencies, capitalize on value-add opportunities, and maximize investment values.

David's experience includes serving as Americas’ Real Estate Executive at Rolls Royce, with responsibilities including leading real estate capital projects and operations as well as serving as the company's global controller for its real estate group. In this role he managed a $750 million operating expenditure program and oversaw more than $1 billion in capital investments. David also developed and led risk management and performance management for Rolls Royce and its various global finance and mitigation programs throughout the U.K., Germany, Singapore, and the Nordics. Prior to Rolls Royce, he was a national program manager for the Public Building Service, responsible for leading various investment programs and committees that ultimately led to the reduction of annual operating costs of more than $50 million annually over his six-year tenure. He has successfully originated and managed multiple real estate investment contracts that have included underwriting, property, and asset management services.

David graduated from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with both a Master of Finance (M.S.F.) and an MBA. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in real estate from Brigham Young University.


Doug Ellis Co-Founder | ASQ Consulting

Douglas Ellis is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of ASQ Consulting. Previously, Mr. Ellis was a Managing Director in the Dispute & Legal Management Consulting Practice at Duff & Phelps, based in Houston. With nearly two decades of experience as a business advisor and financial consultant, Mr. Ellis specializes in strategy, valuation, complex financial analysis, damages, and licensing of intellectual property rights. He has provided dispute support in over 200 cases and has testified in Federal and State Courts.

Mr. Ellis’ industry experience includes aviation, biotechnology, construction, consumer goods, energy, financial services, manufacturing, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, retail, semiconductors, software telecommunications, and transportation, among others. 

Mr. Ellis earned his M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, PA; J.D. from Washington University School of Law, St. Louis, MO; and B.S. in Finance from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. His professional affiliations include the Illinois and D.C. Bar Associations; Houston Intellectual Property Law Association, The American Bar Association and the Licensing Executives Society.


John Murphy President   |   Ivy Tech Foundation

John M. Murphy

John M. Murphy is a senior insurance executive whose career spans more than 45 years. He is currently President of Ivy Tech Foundation, the largest community college foundation in the United States. Under his leadership he has set forth a new strategic direction and significantly increased donations, including six year of record donations. Prior to Ivy Tech he was Managing Director of Wells Fargo Insurance Services Inc., the fourth largest insurance broker internationally where he was a key member of the leadership team and a founder of the former company Acordia, Inc. Additionally, he co-founded the Wells Fargo Marketing Expansion Committee and was a member of the Corporate International Cross Sell Strategy Advisory Board.

Prior to Wells Fargo, John was a member of the executive team that took Anthem to the New York Stock Exchange in 2001. As President of Anthem’s Specialty Business, he increased revenue from $300 million to $1.4 billion as well as managed and directed Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana and Kentucky, producing $3 billion in revenue across the bi-state. In addition, he was President and CEO of Anthem Life and Acordia Senior Benefits, Inc. and headed the integration of all administrative operations for Anthem of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

John earned a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from St John's University in New York and has attended executive certification programs at Northwestern, Michigan, and Indiana Universities. John has served on numerous for-profit subsidiary boards and non-profit boards. He has been asked to serve on corporate pension, information technology, and international marketing committees and task forces. John has been the recipient of numerous sales and civic leadership awards. He has also served on boards for both Genstar Capital and Silverpoint Capital.


Dylan Tarr Development Director

Dylan Tarr serves as DRAFT Capital’s Development Director with oversight of its investments in development, rehab, and expansion projects as well as general physical facilities and environmental matters related to the company’s acquisitions. Dylan brings more than 15 years of construction and design experience in health care and large-scale projects throughout the U.S. as well as expertise in implementing strategic and efficient approaches to commercial real estate development. Previously, Dylan was a development director at one of the largest post acute care development companies in the country where he oversaw each phase of development, from market identification to project delivery.

Dylan also headed up project management for Gresham, Smith and Partners where he led a civil engineering team for one of the largest Dollar General developers in the country and provided due diligence, entitlement, design, permitting, and construction administration for over 600 projects across 13 states over a seven year period.

Prior to Gresham, Smith and Partners, Dylan held roles in construction management, development and design for a wide variety of projects from single-family residential subdivisions to medical research and health care projects on the campus of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  Dylan is a licensed professional civil engineer and a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a degree in civil engineering. 


Lisa Kachur Operations Specialist

Lisa Kachur is an operations expert with executive leadership in senior living and health care delivery throughout the U.S., Canada and China. She is an integral member of DRAFT Capital’s investment and asset management teams, responsible for reviewing new opportunities, identifying areas of operational improvements, verifying underwriting assumptions, establishing and executing business plans and vetting new operating partners. Her ability to inspire teams, enhance culture and develop unique solutions to complex issues has led to a long track record of success in leading several of the largest operators in North America.

Prior to DRAFT Capital, Lisa served as Executive Vice President, Operations for Sienna Senior Living (TSX:SIA); Chief Operating Officer for Element Lifestyle Retirement; Vice President Retirement Operations for Revera Inc. and Director Regional Operations for Chartwell Retirement. In addition to operations, Lisa’s experience includes asset management, strategic planning, P&L oversight, mergers/acquisitions and development within highly regulated environments. Her expertise in growing revenues, RevPAR, market share and operating margins has extended across public, private and non-profit organizations.

Ms. Kachur is a graduate of the Alberta Hospital School of Nursing where she trained in psychiatric care. And she maintains current certification in both nursing and health care management in Vancouver.



Abdulrahman Alnamnakani Financial Engineering Analyst

Abdulrahman Alnamnakani

Abdulrahman Alnamnakani, Draft Capital’s Financial Engineering Analyst holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a graduate certificate in Engineering Management from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.  He also holds a Green Belt in Six Sigma, a certificate in Lean principles, and is knowledgeable in applied statistics. Abdulrahman is passionate about applying engineering concepts and techniques in business and management, especially in real estate and health care.

Prior to joining Draft Capital, Abdulrahman worked at Al-Mahamed Al-Haditha Est., an investment company specializing in real estate development and operations, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His responsibilities included conducting market studies and analysis, property and project management as well as assisting top-level executives with operations and decision making.

Combining his technical and financial skillset with his business acumen, Abdulrahman works to build accurate and more realistic financial models that provide investors with a high level of confidence in their investments.


Matthew Feigenbaum Investment Analyst

Matthew Feigenbaum, Investment Analyst, is responsible for underwriting new investment opportunities, market and sector research and maintaining DRAFT Capital’s asset management dashboards and web-based models.

Prior to joining DRAFT Capital, Matthew was a summer analyst at Starwood Property Trust based in Miami, Florida and an accountant at Feigenbaum & Feigenbaum CPA based in Boynton Beach, FL. In 2017, he co-founded Key Sports Analytics, utilizing big data and multiple variable modeling to assist clients in optimizing sports lineups.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University where he majored in both accounting and finance and was distinguished as a recipient of the Dean Scholarship as well as an admittee to the prestigious Hutton Honors College.

Rachel brings 25 years of experience as a CPA with expertise in developing efficient investment structures, real estate accounting and fund accounting. She participates in quality of earnings assessments and integrating assets to DRAFT Capital’s asset management and reporting platform.
